It's called The Old Bakehouse and it literally is! It's where they used to bake the bread for the village of Lancing.
Sacks of flour used to come in on a rope through a door just below the roof, which you can see above the main door.
It's always been used to make things. First bread, then it was used to plan and develop property. Now I'm there drawing and tutoring, so it's got an atmosphere of ‘let's make something.
THE STORY BEHIND THE OLD BAKEHOUSE STUDIO
I have a large curved desk with an A3 easel and all my pens, manga pens, fine-liners, pads, magnifying glasses, inks and so on, all under daylight lamps to shine a clear light on whatever I’m working on.
Next to this are shelves with History books, comic books and English books. Around the wall, I have framed drawings, art and photos that past pupils and parents have kindly given me.
When you're struggling to get an idea down, it helps to have those there - it's encouragement.
